From 27 year B.C. till 476 Slovenia was a part of Roman province Pannonia. In VI century the territory of modern Slovenia has been grasped by avars who have superseded slavic tribes later. The first Slovene independent state has arisen in 623 and borrowed territory from Balaton lake up to Mediterranean sea. It has existed up to the end of VII century when the region became a part of empire of francs. In X century emperor of Holy Roman Empire Otton I has named territory duchy Karantanija. From 1335 to 1918 Slovenia was a part of the Austrian empire. After the termination of the First World War the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, in 1929 renamed in Kingdom Yugoslavia has been formed. After the Second World War Slovenia was union republic in structure of Socialist Federal Republic Yugoslavia. On June, 25th, 1991 the country has proclaimed independence. Slovenia is a member of the United Nations, EU. A state system: the Head of the state — the President. The legislature — two-chamber Parliament. The executive — the government led by the Prime Minister. |
